How I contour

I am a big fan of contouring, and do it most days. I've got my own technique after watching YT videos and through trial and error. I use Kevyn Aucoin's sculpting powder, but a cheaper option is NYX taupe. You want a powder without any warmth in it, as you're trying to mimic a natural shadow. 

When I first start applying, I suck in my cheeks and using the Illamasqua blush up brush draw heavy lines under my cheekbones, under my jaw and through my temples. This looks a bit mental, but I'm going to blend. Using a Real Techniques Duo fibre contour brush I blend, blend, blend. & then blend. The trick is to not have any harsh lines. Once I'm done blending I apply blush. I always apply my blush on the higher bits of my cheeks and use it to try and sculpt my face. I don't apply it to the apples because I don't think that way is particularly flattering on my face shape. Finally I apply highlighter to the high points of my face - where I want light to be.Tops of my cheekbones, under my brow bone... my favourite at the moment is MAC Soft & gentle, it's really pretty. I use a Royal & Langnickel contour brush to apply highlighter, its' really soft and blends it nicely.
