A Diptyque dupe?

As seen in this post, I have been burning a new candle in HQ. Muji Feu De Bois has been my go-to candle for the last couple of weeks.

I am a big fan of Diptyque candles, but whenever I burn them there is a slight nagging voice in my head, reminding me that I am literally burning my money away. As a candle lover, I can find this upsetting. The majority of Diptyque scents seem to be unique in the fact that they are of a higher quality than their cheaper counterparts. The lavender one smells like a field of lavender, and not an artificial scent. I first smelt the Diptyque Feu De Bois offering last year in Selfridges, and it instantly reminded me of my grandparent's old house, where they used to have a log-burning stove.  I then spotted this Muji one the same day, but I didn't buy it as I wan unconvinced if I liked the smell. I google it later that day, sure I was the first to ever notice the smell dupe. Alas no, Lipsofacto (and others) had also noticed it! :)

Fast forward to this year, and when ordering some storage I threw this in my online basket. It's such a cosy smell, and although it's a bit intense when you deeply inhale the candle 5cm away from your nose, when burnt the smell is more diffused. Adrienne noted that she smelt an element of burnt rubber, but I haven't noticed it. Maybe my nose is less sensitive :)

Basically, the smell warms up my whole flat, and reminds me of my grandparent's house. My boyfriend has also approved it! Not bad for £3.50...

  1. I want to try new candles which really keeps the smell going, and I'm planning on trying the Yankees (the little ones, because the big ones are too expensive for my tastes). But it's nice to know these are good too! Next time I see a Muji I know what to grab and try :D
