The New Year's Eve Smokey Eye

Happy New Year's Eve! I'm not so much of a wild party animal, as a home bunny who loves nothing more than wearing pyjamas... makeup though, makeup is where I will always get excited about. New Year's eve is the perfect justification for all the makeup - I particularly like going for a smoky eye on NYE. My favourite was a couple of years ago when I went for a full 60s look, and went out and about in Cardiff... ah, drunken memories. This year I think I'll be having a quiet one with Chris and my family; the plan is chinese food, champagne and maybe board games? With pyjamas. Um, sounds amazing.

The makeup I went for, for this kind of soft smokey eye and nude-but-not-corpse nude lip... Base wise, something that stays on for hours and hours and hours is Giorgio Armani luminous silk. I apply it with a damp beauty blender so that it doesn't cake on, because sometimes it can look a little heavy. Using a damp sponge (squib) means that it blends so seamlessly into the skin and manages to look a lot more natural. Basically any foundation looks better when applied with a damp beauty blender - they're awesome. The Clarins instant concealer is the best for under eye circles - cannot recommend enough. It covers so well and manages to keep my under eyes moisturised - surely the concealer of the gods. For blemishes, of which I have too many at the moment - the Seventeen phwoaar paint (cringe) is a must. Heavy duty, missile-proof stuff, this. A liberal dusting of the Hourglass ambient lighting powder in diffused light all over with a fluffy brush means that skin is set and will stay that way throughout any dancing (or disco-napping).

Cheeks chiseled using my new beau - the Charlotte Tilbury filmstar bronze and glow. A Christmas present from Chris (five points to Gryffindor), I am completely obsessing over it. The bronze shade is all sculpty and not too orange, and the highlighter is just... ugh, so pretty. My new soft & gentle? It's gorgeous and shimmery and I love. For blush I went for Estee Lauder witty peach, because a nuder lip and a smoky eye means that I need a blush to make me look healthy.

Eyes are taken care of with the Charlotte Tilbury rock star palette. 4 smokey grey shades... perfection. Usual Tilbury formula, I like.

Lips are NARS Brigitte. Possibly my favourite Audacious lipstick (although it's such a hard choice), and who doesn't want to look like the oh-so glamorous miss Bardot? A sort of rosy peachy nude. Lustworthy.

I hope that you all have a sparkly night, filled with glitter, fireworks and food. Whether you're hibernating, like me, or scampering about in town... happy new years! Here's to an amazing 2015...
